"WD My Passport wont mount" , I have a Macbook Pro running El Capitan. I've been using a 1TB WD My Passport for Mac for almost two years without problems. Suddenly, it started spontaneously "ejecting" improperly. (I wasn't disconnecting it.) Then today, about 30 seconds after starting a Time Machine backup, I got an error message saying that the backup failed. I checked the external drive with Disk Utility, but First Aid "failed." Now the external drive is not mounted at all, but the light is blinking and it sounds like it is spinning normally. Disk Utility no longer sees it at all. I updated WD Drive Utility and it can find the external hard drive, but says that it is "unmounted." Again, the light blinks and the thing makes the normal whirring sound. But it doesn't show up in the Finder or on the desktop. Can someone please tell me how to force the Macbook to mount an external hard drive?
