" WD My Passport Ultra not detected on both usb 3.0 ports on Lenovo Y50 but is on usb 2.0", my HDD hasn't been detectable on My PC, Disk management or under any of the expand options in Device Manager (in hidden view as well). I have updated, uninstalled all the USB controllers under Universal Serial Bus and restarted but to no avail. I have also reinstalled the Intel Chipset drivers. All I can see is the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller -1.0 (in device manager) pertaining to the USB 3.0 ports I believe... but as I plug in and remove the cable from the USB 3.0 port, there are no changes seen in device manager, other than the sudden refresh. I have run the troubleshooting wizard for Hardware and Sound multiple times and doing so resulted in the HDD being detected once, on one of the ports but not again. I have tried disabling USB selective suspend under Power Options. I should also mention that my optical mouse and an external cooling fan works using this port, and when my hard drive is plugged in, it lights up and the buzz from the spinning inside is present. Hopelessly, I have also tried restarting my laptop after disconnecting my power cable, waiting for a minute and starting again. No result. One little clue in the puzzle is that the hdd is detected and ready to use to use in perfect working condition on a USB 2.0 port situated on the other side of the laptop. Now when I navigate to Device Manager, I see it listed under Univ. Serial Bus contr. as USB Mass storage. The problem only occurs when plugged into a 3.0. Another thing, I have also tried plugging it into another laptop on the 3.0 port- it didn't work, but it does on the 2.0.
