The shutdown is in fact logged as Event ID: 41 "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly" I found out that these shutdown are caused by a 4TB usb drive that worked fine up until before the Windows updates (the drive was connected during the installation).
